Best Children’s Books Ever?

The Guardian has started gathering a list of what might be the Best Children’s Books Ever. Broken down into 5 age categories (though needing a late teen category) they have drawn from personal recommendations, established classics and current popular borrowings from school and public libraries. There are some gaping holes in the list – no Winnie the Pooh or Hobbits (some sort of short, furry prejudice?) a curious absence of fairly recent authors like Malorie Blackman and Diana Wynne Jones. And no Mog or Tigers coming to tea, which made me wistful and sad. But, as they say, it is the beginnings of a list; I hope they continue to adjust and juggle as comments roll in and fighting words are made because it’s a worthy endeavor. See the article here…
