vicbooks has decided that it is high time we got more involved with our student clientelle (who also happen to own us) so have decided to run a writing competition for poetry and short stories. It’s called 
. There are prizes and stuff. See our website (www.vicbooks.co.nz) for all the details on entry conditions, dates and all the rest . We’re pretty pleased with it and are really curious to see how much turns up and the range of writing it contains.
We’ve managed to get some really excellent judges – Jenny Bornholdt for the poetry and Laura Kroetsch of the short stories – both of whom are huge contributors to the literary weave in New Zealand.
Also we’re getting some help from Salient, the Victoria University student newspaper, Salient, who will publish the winners, and giving us some help with the prizes is Booksellers NZ.
A nice team effort then.
